Get Ready With Me! Homecoming 2014 Makeup, Hair & Dress

So it's finally that time of year! No no, not the holidays, but HOMECOMING! I may be in college but I still love seeing all the high schoolers dress up and decided that I wanted to film a GRWM to give you all a possible option for homecoming. While I do use many makeup products in this tutorial, the star of the show is the Stila In the Light Palette! This eye shadow palette is absolutely gorgeous and so universal; anyone can wear the eye shadows and so many different looks can be created with its 10 shades. I do have a review on it in my blog post down below, so check it out if you're interested!

As for my hair, I simply curled it using my Bed Head Rock 'n' Roller Curling Wand and then used a ton of hairspray to hold it in place! Then for my outfit, I wore a short black sweetheart neckline dress that has some black lace with tan fabric under in it on the bust. It was from Nordstrom last year so it's not available anymore, but I'm sure there are many similar options! Black is always an easy color to wear if you cannot decide or don't want to be too bold. For heels, I wore Steve Madden fawn (nude) pumps and used a matching Steve Madden clutch. For dances I always feel that bringing a clutch is a must because I always put hairbands, lipstick/lip gloss, my cell phone, and a few other miscellaneous things in it.

Have a good homecoming girls!

Stila In the Light Eye Shadow Palette Review & Swatches

After much contemplation over whether to purchase the Stila In the Light Palette, I took the leap and I must say it was a great decision. Ulta was having a sale that reduced the palette price from $39 to $20 so in my mind, I couldn't go wrong! Anyways, if you are a person who loves more neutral colors, both matte & glitter, then you will probably enjoy this palette. Take a look at the swatches:

Picture above and below taken inside with flash.

colors from left to right: Bare, Kitten, Bliss, Sunset, Sandstone, Bubbly, Gilded Gold, Luster, Night Sky & Ebony

Picture above and below taken outside in natural lighting.

Since I'm still in the experimenting stage with this palette, I have yet to decide which eye shadow shades are my favorite, but I must say that I do really like all of them. I often wear more shimmery gold/silver shadows with matte tan/browns together so this palette is perfect for me. I find that the shadows have great pigmentation and are long-lasting. With Urban Decay's primer potion, they stay on my eyelids all day without creasing and look just as good at the end of my day as when I put them on in the morning. It does seem like if you didn't use a primer that you would have more fallout throughout the day, whereas with a primer the only fallout I have is a bit when I am first applying the more glittery shadows to my eyelids. The formula is not dry and not powdery (shadow doesn't fly up when you put your brush on the shadows in the palette). Also, I find the shadows to be smooth and creamy despite their more glittery appearance. I haven't tried the Damsel (brown) liner that it comes with that much yet, but I would say that at least for me it is smudge proof. When I swatched it on my hand it was hard to get off, but I really like that aspect. I hate when eyeliner moves around throughout the day.

the palette includes this mirror on the inside!

it also includes a Stila brown smudge stick waterproof liner.

Now to address what I don't like about this palette. The problem I have with it, luckily, is the not eyeshadows themselves, but the packaging. The cardboard is not the best quality and I feel that over time the palette lid will probably fly open versus stay in place. I can deal with this though because I love the eye shadows so much.

Let me know what you all think of the palette!

Get Ready With Me!! Shopping Day - Makeup & Outfit

Somehow it is once again Wednesday! It seems like a week flew by super fast! Anyways, now that I have wrapped up my back to school series, I'm back at it with more beauty related videos!

This look is a pretty look if you are looking to get slightly more dolled up when you go out shopping. Whether you are meeting a friend for lunch at the mall or just want to dress up more, this look is super cute! I do want to say that the eyeshadows I used in this tutorial are from a Clinique quad that came in a bonus when I purchased other items from Clinique. I know some people are selling this quad online, but you cannot actually purchase it from Clinique. On that note, the reason I used it is because I want to show you all how you definitely should make use of those free little bonus eyeshadows that you receive when you purchase other items. Often they are actually really pretty colors and from my experience, they have been good products that I enjoy.  Hope you like the video!

OOTD - Pairing a Maxi Dress with a Statement Necklace

I had some time on my hands so I decided to share with you all an easy Outfit of the Day that will look good on everyone! One of my favorite (and easy) outfit combinations I often wear is a maxi dress with a bold statement necklace. It's the perfect way to look super cute and fashionable while remaining comfortable! In fact, you probably have both of these types of items in your wardrobe already!  I will link the items down below, but since I bought these pieces earlier this summer, I cannot list the exact items. The ones linked will be extremely similar and you will definitely be able to recreate this look!

Summer's Coming to a Close

Happy Labor Day!!!

I know I mentioned how fast summer flew by the other day in one of my posts & I know technically summer isn't over, but since I start school tomorrow it's basically over (at least for me). Therefore, I wanted to share a few last summer photos I took yesterday while walking around the beach area! I feel like this summer was here and gone faster than any other summer I have had, but maybe that's just because I've noticed that the older I get, the faster the summers seem to go.

Despite my (end of summer) summertime sadness, I'm looking forward to a new school year, a new chapter, and praying that some amazing opportunities and experiences come my way! I wish the same for you all even if you aren't in school. Before we know it the holidays will be upon us, so until then, lets just enjoy every moment!

This umbrella was too adorable not to take a photo!

Happy Labor Day!!!
