Embracing the Cowl Neck

We can all relate to loving certain styles of clothing, but feeling that we personally just cannot pull off the style. Lately I've been really thinking about this issue (yes I consider it to be a real dilemma) and I realized that if I like a style I need to get rid of the "I can't pull this off" mentality. Having this blog has really encouraged me to try out styles that I previously would have shied away from and honestly, I think that everyone needs to step out of their clothing "comfort zone."    

For me, cowl necked tops and dresses have always been the items that I've loved on others but felt I wouldn't look good in. On a whim, I picked out this cowl neck beige tunic from The Mint Julep Boutique and lets just say that I'm planning on stepping out of my comfort zone more often. Before going on and on about my obsession with this outfit, I must say that this boutique seriously has the CUTEST clothes and I like that they are pretty affordable. Okay...back to my love for this Fall look! This oatmeal colored tunic is so comfortable and soft, which, in my opinion, is essential for any sweater-like top. Nobody wants to feel itchy all day! Also, can we talk about the alternating pattern of it?! I think it's so cute & makes the tunic even more stylish. For the rest of the look, I kept it simple, pairing black leggings and my favorite black leather boots with gold accessories. The watch is so classic looking and the bangle bracelet is one of my favorite jewelry items to wear. As for my purse, how cute is this Dooney & Bourke City Barlow bag?! I've been using it on repeat since I got it and I'm in love.

Today I have to confess that I haven't been to the mall in over a month...like what the heck?! There just isn't enough hours in the day! Thank goodness for the internet & online shopping ~ insert praise hand emoji here lol. 

I've been eyeing black lace up flats for months because they seem to be everywhere and I finally found these ones that I'm obsessed with. I don't know what it is about adding some cords to black flats that pulls me in, but I just think they are the cutest things! Totally Fall appropriate! I'm picturing them with the camel-colored skirt and fitted tweed jacket! 

Now what about this pom pom bag charm! Like...yes please!! I will take one for every bag I own. Having accessories for your accessories is totally acceptable right?!

The Hi-Lo Maxi

Do you ever see something in the store that you naturally gravitate towards even though normally it's not your style?? This was totally what happened to me when my eyes first caught sight of this hi-lo chiffon maxi dress! I don't know why but for some reason I'm usually against the hi-low trend. Luckily, the olive green & black diamond print pulled me in and well...lets just say that this is a dress I'm going to be wearing a ton this season!

With the current heat wave that doesn't seem like it will cool down anytime soon, finding Fall pieces that are stylish and not too hot can be really hard. Luckily, this dress combines both of those aspects. Score! It's also super flowy and comfortable, which is always a plus in my mind!

Embracing Boho

When I heard that 70s boho clothing was coming back into style this Fall (read about this season's trends here), all that I could think about was flares and fringe! Don't get me wrong, I love my skinny jeans, but on a tall girl like me, flares are just so flattering. They are instant leg slimmers!! As you can probably already tell, I could seriously go on for days about my love for flared pants, but today the star of the show is this boho fringe top!

Now we may only be four days into Fall, but I'm already thinking that this Cheerful Chic Boutique top will be my favorite article of clothing this season. How cute would this be for Thanksgiving?! I love how it is flowy and the sleeves are oversized! It is definitely unlike anything else I own and then of course the fringe on the bottom is the icing on the cake!

Since the main pieces like the top and pants were more on the simple side (which is what I LOVE about them), I added to the look by wearing more jewelry than I usually do. Also, can we note how all of the jewelry I'm wearing is silver!! Lately I've been more into gold jewelry, but I think that with this outfit silver looks so classic.
