Casual Day to Night Look

Hi loves! A couple weeks ago I shared a casual everyday look (read here) that is great for the heat wave we are currently having in the Golden state! If you read the post, you know that I also mentioned that I would show you how you can transform it into a nighttime look! Can you guess what I'm going to be talking about today?! ;) 


Sticking with the strapless dress I wore in the original blog post, I made this look nighttime ready with four simple items that you probably already own! First, I ditched the small gold necklace for a statement necklace! Then I chose to carry my black fold-over clutch instead of a big purse and I put on a denim jacket since the weather generally always cools down in the evening. Lastly, I put on a pair of wedges instead of sandals! Can you believe that with four pieces I made this outfit nighttime appropriate!? To be honest, I was kind of shocked that it was this easy! Denim Days

I remember wearing denim skirts all the time growing up! I don't know why, but the days that I wore one I always felt like a million bucks! Now it has been years since I've worn one, but when this denim skater skirt caught my eye I just couldn't resist!


I love how simple both the skirt & this entire look is! By combining basic pieces, I created an outfit that looks put together and oh so girly!! I could seriously just twirl around in this skirt all day and getting to wear the floppy hat was just a bonus! Have You Heard of Hairbanglez?!

A couple of weeks ago (mid-photoshoot), I looked down only to realize that I was wearing a hairband on my wrist...so stylish right?! Just kidding. I was actually really sad because I had to retake quite a few photos. Unfortunately, this wasn't the first time that it had happened. Since I always carry a hairband with me, I cannot count the number of times I have brought down my entire look by having a hair elastic on my wrist or having that red mark from it. Then of course there are times when I throw one into my purse and then when it comes time to put my hair up, I can't find it! Back to School Makeup

The Peaceful Part of Venice

If you've ever visited LA (or maybe live nearby, but play tourist like I do!), you probably have visited the oh so artsy city of Venice. While people watching, walking the boardwalk & passing by muscle beach may be the "popular" things to do in the area, next time you visit I encourage you to take a trip over to a more quite area of the city: the Venice Canals. On a whim I stopped by this gorgeous little place & I'm so glad that I did...and of course I had to do a mini photoshoot while I was there! Oh the life of a fashion blogger ;)


I have been OBSESSED with this chambray top lately & it's not even Fall yet! The key for transitioning into Fall is pairing Summer pieces with Fall staples like the chambray. To prevent myself from overheating, I wore it with this bold bodycon skirt and a white cami! Since the skirt really spoke for itself, I also kept the jewelry simple, just wearing my favorite cuff bracelet and two necklaces, one of which is the beautiful 20" Berna necklace by Vi Mondi Jewelry! Necklaces have been my go-to piece of jewelry lately!

As much as I'd love to say buy up all those cute jeans & tall boots for back to school, unfortunately the weather outside is not agreeing! Though you still may need to pick up a couple of those items before the stores start bringing in all the winter attire, today I'm sharing my back to school picks that are Fall appropriate (due to their coloring), but functional for the hot months of August through October...or November if you live in the Golden State. The majority of these items are on the affordable side & to get more bang for your buck, my main tip is to try to stick to plain pieces such as neutral colored tees & skirts. That way you can take those pieces and create a variety of looks from them by pairing them with fun accessories such as the mirrored sunglasses & yellow tassel earrings. In my opinion, it's a lot easier to create looks when you have neutral items as the base!

Sporty Chic

Wohoooo! Happy Fri-YAY everyone! We have made it to the weekend yet again...(well almost, just a couple hours left!). With the extremely warm temperatures this weekend in the Golden State, today I'm sharing a sporty chic look that is perfect for a hot day. Warm temps aren't going to stop this girl from looking stylish ;)


To create this look (as with any look), I start with what I call the "foundation" piece. For this outfit, that piece is the black & white striped bodycon dress. From there, I paired it with white converse (you need these shoes in your life!! They go with everything) and tied a chambray shirt around my waist for the sporty vibe. Since this is a look that I would wear when I'm doing a lot of walking outside, I then threw on some sunnies & paired it with a classic black crossbody purse. Thank goodness for crossbodies right?! To complete the look and add the chic vibe, I wore some simple gold jewelry pieces, including my new obsession...my crisscross ring!
